During the COVID-19 pandemic, Black et al. (2020) discuss recommendations for a unified open data informatic ecosystem to support pathogen genomic analysis in public health agencies across geographical regions and income settings. They also describe a bioinformatics platform for data processing, analysis and visualisation. The AusTrakka platform developed in Australia streamlines genomic and epidemiological data sharing and enables fine-grained access controls of data enabling public health decision-making.
